Who is AllportPC?
Thank you for your interest in Allport Production Company, also known as AllportPC.  AllportPC was started in March of 1997 with one goal, to offer products to customers in high quality with lower pricing. Many people ask why they should use AllportPC. Well the simple answer is, we have been in your shoes. At some point, we paid someone to design our sites. Then we started designing our own sites. We then became a reseller web host and eventually purchased a dedicated server and became a real host. So we know more than just web hosting. We build our own sites, we know what you need and how you need it setup. At one point we purchased all of the products we offer from another company and we gained the knowledge we have from being in your shoes. So now we want to offer that experience to you by offering some of these products at lower prices then we had to pay. In some cases, we offer reseller plans so you can resell the same products. Our list of products and services have varied during the years but our commitment to our customers has not. Today we manage a variety of products and services to include: Linux Web Hosting , Windows Web Hosting , Reseller Services, Secure Certificates (SSL) , E-Commerce Shopping Carts , Website Templates , Web Design , Domain Registration, VPS Servers and more. AllportPC was founded on the belief that you shouldn't have to pay a lot of money for something that didn't cost that much in the first place.  Our commitment to you is that we will continue to look for more ways to add products and services to you at the lowest possible prices.  We will provide support that you can understand.  We are based in America and we speak English.  Sorry, we do not translate our website or pay translators to answer our phones.  Our support is located right here in the good ole USA. AllportPC doesn't nickel and dime you.  We show all of our fees up front.  The prices you see on our product pages are the prices you pay.  Though we do have to adjust our prices from time to time based on services prices we have to pay, we always try to add more value to our plans (such as additional disk space or bandwidth) during these price increases.

The AllportPC Story

AllportPC stands for Allport Production Company.  We were started in 1997 by our current CEO Jesse Allport to offer desktop publishing services to local clients in Columbus Georgia under the name Allport Publishing Company.  AllportPC signed a local car dealership in 1997 and began offering a variety of products to include business cards, letterheads, thank you cards and more. 

As AllportPC continued to grow, they saw the need in 1998 to launch a website.  After months of searching for a web designer, AllportPC came to the conclusion that it was too expensive to purchase a website.  Cheaper website's ranged from $1500 to $2000 and the more dynamic website that AllportPC needed was closer to $5000.  AllportPC already knew how to design and print, now it was time to test their design skills on the internet.  It took about a year and 10 different designs for AllportPC to finally get the right type of website that loaded fast for dial up customers and looked presentable. After a year of learning about the internet, AllportPC had discovered a new product to offer, Web Design.  

AllportPC began mentioning this to its customers and soon signed a local Real Estate startup as their first web design customer.  AllportPC's price....$150. No, you didn't read it wrong and we didn't leave off any zeros, we said it, one hundred and fifty dollars.  AllportPC saw the potential of the internet and soon began investing a lot of money into wrapping our company around it. 

In 1999, Mr. Allport realized that he was handing over $25 a month for hosting plus another $35 a year for domain names to hosting companies.  This price was real steep for both the companies that AllportPC designed for as well as the several sites AllportPC operated at the time.  Mr. Allport began researching hosting and how he could lower the prices of his customers.  At this time, he discovered what is today the essence of web hosting, Reseller Hosting. 

Mr. Allport started looking for investors to help pay the $5000 initiation fee to the company he chose to reseller for.  He found two friends who were willing to help.  Together, they all gathered the $5000 and started a new company called HostingUBetter.com.  Hosting-U-Better (or TheHUB) signed its first customer within 2 months, a local church.  But Mr. Allport's partners were not happy with the large investment they made and the few customers they had signed.  Even existing AllportPC design customers had not switched to the new hosting due to contracts they signed with the old hosting provider of AllportPC.  Mr. Allport's partners were ready to call it quits and close the company.  Knowing hosting was a huge factor in signing design customers for AllportPC, Mr. Allport decided to sell all of the stocks he had purchased over the years and buy his partners out.  In late 2000, Hosting-U-Better officially was owned by AllportPC. 

In an effort to more localize the hosting company, AllportPC rebranded the company Columbus Hosting.  Columbus Hosting signed its first customer 2 months after it was launched and grew rapidly in the first 2 years.  In 2005, Columbus Hosting saw a large drop in customers as many of the local web designers decided to start their own reseller hosting accounts and move their customers to their new accounts.  In order to regain some of the lost profits and all of the lost customers, AllportPC started searching and eventually found a data center to lease servers from.  This resulted in AllportPC being able to offer reseller accounts to other companies in turn making AllportPC an official web hosting company and not just another reseller. Over the years, AllportPC has purchased a few smaller hosting companies to help bring in more customers and make hosting more affordable to our customers. Unlike hosting companies that oversell their servers, AllportPC sets a maximum number of sites allowed per server and as each server begins to fill up and our profit increases, we lower our prices so our customers get the best value on their hosting.

Also in 2005, AllportPC launched CartMD e-commerce shopping cart software. The cart was customized per site. In 2008, AllportPC launched the current version (4.x) which included a new "Updater" so that all customers get all the latest updates and bug fixes. AllportPC continues to update CartMD and add enhancements.

AllportPC became an official registrar during the summer of 2009. In the spring of 2010, AllportPC launched some new services to include Merchant Accounts, Domain Registration and more. Through the years, AllportPC has purchased several companies, moved to several data centers and tried several products and services.  We feel we are currently at a very stable place with the products and services we offer however we will continually strive to look for more products and services that we can offer to our customers.
